International German Genealogy Partnership 2023 Conference
The International German Genealogy Partnership 2023 conference is one of the few occasions in which you will hear from and connect with people focused on German genealogy, and only German genealogy. Attendees will enjoy a weekend of programs and activities that highlight the diversity of the German-speaking genealogy community.
The conference will be held in-person in Fort Wayne, Indiana, June 9-11. But there is also a robust virtual option, with access to programming in real-time. And a USB drive is available for purchase, allowing all attendees to watch the recorded presentations.
Go to iggp.org to learn more and to register.
Notes by GGD President, Perry Buffie:
There will be over 80 speakers and sessions in real-time and on-demand covering topics relating to German genealogy in Europe, North America and beyond.
A topic of special interest to Galicia is the session on “WW II SS Records,” as the SS (Schutzstaffel, a paramilitary organization of the Nazi Party of Germany) set up the Einwandererzentralstelle (immigration center) that contained the EWZ records that make up the 1939 Resettlement Records database at the GGD website.
Because the Galiziendeutsche originally come from southwestern Germany, other topics of interest may include:
- Baden / Württemberg
- Rhineland and the Pfalz
- Best Tips for Researching German Ancestors
- German Script Workshop
- German Marriage Records
- Using Maps in German Research
- How to Find Records That Aren't Online
- Favorite German Research Databases
